Instructional Design Support & eLearning Asset Development
Overview
Provided foundational design support within Queensland Health’s Centre for Leadership Excellence (CLE) during the development of its first state-wide digital leadership learning assets. Established the initial visual system, asset library structure, and core learning templates used across blended leadership programs.
The Challenge
Queensland Health’s Centre for Leadership Excellence (CLE) needed to rapidly develop its first digital leadership learning program for a diverse, state-wide workforce spanning clinical and operational roles. At the time, learning resources lacked a unified visual language and scalable design system, resulting in inconsistent materials across facilitators and delivery formats. This limited quality control, reduced cohesion across programs, and made it difficult to efficiently produce learning content at scale. A foundational system was required to unify design across blended learning environments and support the creation of reusable, high-quality leadership training assets.
Approach
Developed the foundational visual and learning design system for CLE, beginning with a bespoke illustration style to establish a consistent visual language across all training materials. Built a scalable asset library and reusable template system to support instructional designers across digital modules, virtual workshops, and face-to-face delivery.
Produced the first CLE Master Class package, including facilitator guide, participant workbook, and digital learning assets, setting the standard for future program development. Worked within existing instructional design workflows to ensure the system was practical, adaptable, and extensible across Queensland Health’s broader leadership learning ecosystem.
Appplications
The system was embedded across CLE’s leadership learning suite and used as the foundation for its first consistent state-wide training resources.
This included:
- Digital eLearning modules for clinical and operational leaders
- Virtual workshop toolkits and facilitator resources
- Face-to-face training materials and participant workbooks
- The CLE Master Class program (facilitator guide, workbook, and digital content)
- A centralised asset library to support ongoing instructional design
The illustration system and templates were applied across all formats to ensure consistency across delivery methods.
Outcome
Established a scalable foundation for leadership learning design across Queensland Health, enabling more consistent and efficient development of training resources. Improved coherence across blended learning experiences, strengthening engagement and supporting clearer delivery of leadership capability frameworks.
Reduced duplication in design production through reusable systems, allowing instructional designers to work more efficiently at scale. Contributed to strengthening leadership capability across the workforce, supporting improved practice and delivery across all Queensland Health services.
